Skin closure strips work by drawing the edges of a small cut or laceration together for primary intention healing — an effective alternative or supplement to sutures or surgical glue for many shallow wounds. The right size depends on wound location and shape.

How To Use

Clean and dry the skin around the wound. Gently approximate the wound edges with clean fingers or instrument. Apply strips perpendicular to the wound, starting at the center and working outward, leaving small gaps between strips for drainage. Avoid stretching the strips during application. Strips typically remain in place for 7–14 days; do not forcibly remove — let them detach naturally or trim if needed.

Important Notes

Not appropriate for deep, gaping, dirty, infected, or facial wounds requiring physician assessment. If a wound is gaping, bleeding heavily, or appears infected, seek medical care. Children and patients on blood thinners may need physician evaluation before closure strip use.

Care & Compatibility

Keep dry for the first 24–48 hours after application. After that, strips can typically tolerate brief water exposure but should be patted (not rubbed) dry. Compatible with secondary dressings if needed for absorbent coverage.
